Philip Busker has been an integral part of Mattress Firm since he first joined in 1989, starting in sales leadership. Over the past 35 years, his contributions have played a pivotal role in the company’s growth and success. From his early entrepreneurial ventures to leading some of the company’s most complex merchandising initiatives, Philip has demonstrated a deep understanding of product innovation, a passion for results, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
In 1994, Philip became CEO and President of Centex Mattress Corp., a Mattress Firm franchise partner, where he expanded the brand’s footprint across Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri. Following Centex’s acquisition by Mattress Firm in 1999, he returned as Senior Vice President of Sales.
In 2002, Philip founded Mattress Pro, growing it into a successful regional retail operation. When Mattress Firm acquired Mattress Pro in 2008, he rejoined as Senior Vice President of National Franchise Development, focusing on expanding the brand’s presence in satellite markets. He later served as President of B29, LLC, a subsidiary of Mattress Firm responsible for testing alternative retail strategies across multiple markets.
Philip rejoined Mattress Firm in 2016 as Senior Vice President of Strategic Deployment, playing a key role in stabilizing and reorganizing the company’s real estate operations nationwide. His leadership in these efforts ultimately led him to his current role as Executive Vice President of Merchandising.
A Houston native, Philip has been married to his wife, Melissa, for 26 years. They have four children – one is currently a junior at Texas A&M University, and the other three are college graduates now working in the technology sector.
