Philip Busker Chief Merchandising Officer Philip Busker is the Chief Merchandising Officer for Mattress Firm. His work with the Company started in sales leadership in 1989. Beginning in 1994, Busker began serving as the CEO and President of Centex Mattress Corp., a Mattress Firm franchise partner. During his tenure at Centex, he expanded Mattress Firm’s footprint throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. In 1999. Centex was acquired by Mattress Firm and Busker was hired by as the SVP of Sales for Mattress Firm. In 2002, Busker took a hiatus from Mattress Firm to found Mattress Pro, where he grew the brand into a prominent regional retail operation. In 2008, when Mattress Firm acquired the multi-market, multi-state operation, Busker once again joined the Mattress Firm team as the SVP of National Franchise Development to re-ignite the brands’ growth in satellite markets across the country. He later transitioned into a role as President of B29, LLC., a subsidiary division of Mattress Firm responsible for deploying multi-market tests of alternate branded retail strategies. In 2016, Busker was once again hired as Mattress Firm’s SVP of Strategic Deployment, assisting with the stabilization and reorganization of Mattress Firm’s real estate operations across the country, which ultimately led him to the position he holds today. Busker is a native of Houston, Texas, as is his wife of 26 years, Melissa. Together they have four children, two of whom are in high school and two that work as part-time sales associates for Mattress Firm as they complete their undergraduate degrees at Texas A&M University.
