Mattress Firm’s Sunni Goodman Wins Gold and Bronze in 2018 Stevie Awards for Women in Business

Women Around the World Recognized at Premier Business Awards Event in New York City

HOUSTON (November 29, 2018) – Mattress Firm, America’s largest mattress specialty retailer, is proud to announce that Sunni Goodman, Senior Vice President of Communications & Customer Experience, received two awards at the 15th annual Stevie® Awards for Women in Business. Goodman was awarded Gold for Communications/PR Campaign of the Year in the Crisis Communications category, as well as Bronze for the Media Relations category, at the awards ceremony in New York City on November 16.

The award recognizes Goodman’s excellence in leading successful public relations campaigns such as the “Snoozetern” launch, which included a multi-faceted PR and social media program, as well as crisis communications work for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in 2017.

“I’m so honored to be among the company of other incredible women who were also recognized by the Stevie Awards this year and to take home both Gold and Bronze awards for Mattress Firm,” said Goodman. “This was definitely a team effort and an example of the amazing work, commitment and support I have from my incredible colleagues.”

The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, employees, and the companies they run – worldwide. The Stevie Awards have been hailed as the world’s premier business awards.

Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word for “crowned,” the awards were presented to winners during a dinner event attended by more than 550 people at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel in New York City.  The event was broadcast via Livestream.

More than 1,500 entries were submitted this year for consideration in more than 90 categories, including Executive of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Company of the Year, Startup of the Year, Women Helping Women, and Women Run Workplace of the Year.  Mattress Firm won in the Communications/PR Campaign of the Year category for Crisis Communication and Media Relations.

Gold, Silver and Bronze Stevie Award winners were determined by the average scores of more than 200 business professionals around the world, working on six juries.
